The KAATSU C4 device is the fourth generation of the KAATSU Cycle product that is ideal for individuals, trainers, physical trainers, chiropractors, physical therapists and caregivers with its patented Cycle and Constant modes and KAATSU AirBands. This robust, waterproof equipment is extremely versatile and can be safely used anywhere and anytime, even in rain, snow, mud, dust and sand, for recovery, rehabilitation, hypertrophy and improving sports performance for people of all ages, conditions and lifestyles.
Occlusive training:
Occlusive training or Kaatsu is a training technique that has gained special prominence in recent years. The technique was created in Japan by Yoshiaki Sato in 1966, developed and popularized in the 80s and is based on blood flow restriction. Vascular occlusion is a maneuver that reduces the supply of oxygen (local hypoxia), nutrients and metabolic clearance of the muscles subjected to such effort that substantially increases physiological stress, especially at the metabolic level.
To temporarily restrict blood flow to the affected muscles, bands are used in the closest areas of the extremities (arms and legs) that you want to train, which induces a situation of local hypoxia, this unmistakable characteristic being what makes it different from the rest of the existing neuromuscular training methods or techniques.
How do you achieve such good results?
The Kaatsu method potentially increases muscle strength and size. This way of training requires lighter loads, at 20-30% of your one repetition maximum (1RM) to muscle failure while restricting blood flow to the muscle group being exercised.
The impressive ability of Kaatsu training to improve muscle development while using light weights is due in part to the activation of fast-twitch muscle fibers with less load and less central nervous system fatigue. This technique depletes the available oxygen levels in the muscle being worked due to restriction in blood flow.
The reduction in available oxygen causes muscle cells to produce energy without oxygen, or anaerobically, which preferentially activates fast-twitch cells rather than slow-twitch cells. Since fast-twitch fibers have superior potential for strength, their stimulation gives the Kaatsu method greater ability to develop strength.
The key role of Kaatsu training in raising growth hormone was demonstrated in a study conducted by Dr. Y.Takarada. The research involved six young men who performed five sets of leg extension at 20% of their 1RM until failure, with a 30-second rest period and restricted blood flow to the muscle group they were working.
Growth hormone concentration increased 290 times more than before exercise. These findings show that Kaatsu training can provoke a strong endocrine response, stimulating growth hormone production and thus supporting muscle growth.
Who is it addressed to?
KAATSU is being used by athletes and users of all ages, abilities and fitness in both Asia, Europe and America in order to gain muscle strength, muscle hypertrophy, increase range of motion and improve sports performance.
Their products are used by Japanese, Chinese and American Olympic gold medalists (including Justin Gatlin, Ted Ligety and Todd Lodwick), world champions, professional athletes (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), military personnel, astronauts from NASA to recover in the best possible way from the atrophy caused by space travel, people in the process of rehabilitation and elderly people since it is a low weight workout.
Benefits:
- Pneumatic compression bands help during exercise to create greater metabolic stress (lactic acid) with less mechanical tension (lighter weights) and less muscle damage (softer training) necessary for muscle development, avoiding risks of injury or relapses in injuries. .
- Recruitment of fast or type 1 or glycolytic fibers with less fatigue of the central nervous system, when working with 20 - 30% of your RM.
- Produces a solid endocrine response of Growth Hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) necessary for the development of hard tissues (bones, tendons and ligaments) and soft tissues (muscles).
- Increase strength and muscle mass with lighter weights.
- Eliminates or minimizes muscle atrophy during rehabilitation or while in bed.
- Strengthens the endothelial tissue of our blood vessels, improving their elasticity, blood circulation and blood pressure.
- Optimizes the storage and use of fatty tissue. Improving your health and aesthetics.
- Improves resistance and balance.
- Training with vascular occlusion produces a cross effect, when training one limb through occlusion the opposite limb benefits from the increase in strength and size.
- Although the effect is eminently local (at the level of the restricted muscle), a ''contagion'' of the effect to other groups involved in a compound exercise has been demonstrated. Adjacent muscle groups appear to undergo additional development.
- KAATSU training is capable of generating great local fatigue due to hypoxia in less time than through traditional techniques of congestion and constant tension, foundations of traditional bodybuilding, with which it can be compared.
- It is especially interesting in rehabilitation therapies or unloading phases in a periodized plan, by using very light weights that do not stress ligaments and joints. For this reason, it has also been used successfully to prevent atrophy in astronauts and elderly people.
